Casper’s Knee Surgery

January 16, 2024 – Casper’s Knee Surgery

This is Casper. He has been at the Charles City County Animal shelter since October 13, 2023. He is a super sweet, gorgeous boy. Thanks to the generous support of Tommie’s Fund through Richmond Animal Care and Control, Dr. Murphie at Anderson’s corner Animal Hospital in Williamsburg did major surgery on Casper’s knee January 16, 2024. As you can see, Casper is recovering well. He is staying with me, at Gone To The Dogs Rescue, as he must be walked on a leash for the next eight weeks until his knee is permanently healed. You can be thinking good thoughts that all will go well with him. He is a sweet, well behaved guy and will be looking for a loving permanent home after he recovers from the surgery. I was amazed at the before and after x-rays of Casper’s knee and thought some of you out there might be as well.

March 12, 2024 – Update on Casper’s Recovery After Knee Surgery

It’s been a long eight weeks of recovery for Casper. He tolerated it extremely well, but it was tough for a young, active dog to be confined and more recently walked only on a leash for eight long weeks. On March 12, 2024 Casper had his eight week appointment with Dr. Robert Murphie at Anderson’s Corner in Williamsburg, who did the surgery eight weeks ago. He is a wonderful man and a fantastic surgeon, and we highly recommend him. He gave Casper the greenlight to be off leash and play with other dogs, and go back to normal activity! Hooray! Here are some videos of Casper off leash for the first time in eight weeks, playing with Honey Bun and Sally at Gone to the Dogs. He is a happy dog and is looking for a loving forever home!
