Gone to the Dogs Rescue, a 501(c)( 3 ) non-profit organization (gonetodogs.org).  Gone to the Dogs is a no-kill, all-breed/mixed breed dog rescue located in central Virginia. Specializing in re-homing dogs that have been abandoned, have been rescued after running out of time at kill shelters, or have lost their homes for a variety of reasons. The animals offered for adoption are healthy and well adjusted and have had some training; they are ready to waltz right into your hearts! Dogs that are not placeable for a variety of reasons (such as extreme old age or chronic skin conditions) find lifelong sanctuary here.

Look at these happy dogs! Volunteers Doug Chandler, Amy Hicks, and Amanda Nester are making sure these dogs are living the best life they can while residing at the Charles City County Animal Shelter. We are so fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who make sure that these dogs get lots of time for exercise and social interaction. We also are so blessed to have received incredible support from our community. Donations have permitted us to double our outdoor kennel space and generous supporters are also providing us with the Purina One dog food our dogs really need. Items are shipped to Strother Sharp, our kennel attendant, as there are many hours when there is no one at the shelter and we don’t want donations left unattended. You can see how happy and well conditioned the dogs are, but it’s still not the same as having a real home of their own. They still spend a great deal of time by themselves inside the kennel. We’re doing our best, but what they would really like is find forever homes!
